After years of complaints from locals about unhygienic conditions, safety concerns and anti-social behaviour, North Acton Square – the public space next to North Acton Underground station – has undergone a major revamp aimed at making it safer and more welcoming for residents, workers and visitors.
North Acton Square has completed a significant transformation designed to address longstanding concerns raised by residents, businesses and commuters. Following years of feedback regarding cleanliness, safety and anti-social behaviour, the space adjacent to North Acton Underground Station has been overhauled to provide a more secure, functional and accessible environment.
The programme, delivered through a partnership between Ealing Council, the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation and several private-sector contributors, introduces clear sightlines, upgraded lighting, new landscaping and an enhanced layout that prioritises public safety and pedestrian flow. Deep-cleaning, graffiti removal and reconfigured planting have materially improved visibility and hygiene standards across the square.
To strengthen community activation and support local enterprise, the scheme also delivers new retail and micro-business units, a flexible events space and improved seating and gathering points. These features are designed to drive footfall, encourage positive use of the area and support a more vibrant local economy.
The upgrade marks a strategic step in the wider regeneration of North Acton and reinforces the location as an important gateway within the broader Old Oak and Park Royal growth corridor. The renewed square now reflects the expectations of the local community and provides a more resilient, modern and welcoming space for everyone who uses it.
